Verifiers contacted

I can't speak to the process used for deciding which verifiers to contact but I do not believe the fact that verifiers having been contacted means anything one way or the other. From my own experience I had only one verifier (that I know of) contacted last year and was waitlisted.

Ok thank you! Do you know when exactly your verifier was contacted last year?

My friend did, that's why I am surprised. I saw other forums and most got their verifiers contacted in late Jan and early Feb

Can you see on the application if your activities have been verified or do you just have to talk to your verifiers? Is that how your friend found out they were contacted?

No, the verifier that got contacted told my friend, not Dal. But I am not sure if you can see it on the application, I have not seen her application.

I had a verifier contacted this morning but I was already rejected from Dalhousie before interviews. Anyone know why they would be contacting my verifier now?

That's weird, I am not sure what their process is and why they would contact verifiers after a rejection. Do you know the exact date your verifier was contacted, was it before October 29th? Are you IP?

3rd time applicant here. I would really like to urge everybody to put zero emphasis on whether or not your verifiers are being contacted. I’ve been waitlisted twice, but have had friends be both accepted and rejected, and verifiers have been contacted in each instance. All this really tells us is that they are moving along with the process. Try and stay relaxed everyone, we’ve got another 3 months or so to go!

Did the verifiers get contacted via email, phone, or both? Just curious as to remind my verifiers to keep an eye out for these methods.

I had one verifier message me that they were contacted by email (I'm pretty sure that I gave both an email and phone number).

I understand that we shouldn't read too much into this, but some of my verifiers got contacted, while most of the others did not. I emailed admissions to see if there was something wrong on my end, but they said everything was in order... any thoughts?

Not all verifiers are contacted. I only had 2 when I applied, others had none

I believe they generally do email, and perhaps a phone call if they don’t respond within the allotted deadline

Why is that do you think?? I'm nervously waiting...

It's just not feasible to go through each and every activity, and read the responses of each verifier for each applicant. It could be as high at 28 verifiers for some people (assuming you have a different verifier for each activity).

Better to take a random sample, or to focus on activities that hold a lot of weight on the application. For example, a one off 30 hour activity might not be worth verifying, but an activity that totals 2500 hours might be more worthwhile verifying. Not sure if this is what they do, but I'm just speculating. My activities that were verified was an old job of mine, and a major volunteer activity.
