Guest buzz15
Hey everyone, so here's what I found out from Trish...240 invites were sent out which, as you probably know, must be responded to by April 5th. For the spaces that free up, they will be picking from the waitlist to fill the empty spaces. About the DAT, all she said that one must have acheived greater than 18 on the RC. She said nothing about minimum 90 overall or anything along those lines. To go along with the 18+ RC she said that one must have fulfilled or will potentially have competitive grades. She didn't say what those grades were. I asked her how many people were on the waitlist and she would not tell me. I also asked her an indirect question about what would happen to my application if 20 people were to drop their spots; she also didn't answer that. She said that they will not release any information about the waitlist. Finally, she said that there is still hope.
Guest Gattuso19
240 interviews for 52 spots? Thats not very encouraging... I hope that there is a lot of overlap between the UofT interviews. Good luck
Guest qw1222
they sent out close to 100 acceptances last year. SO its really 100 out of 240. Not to mention those who dont show up to the interview b/c they already accepted to dents @ uoft and gulp fail the physio exam :lol
Guest predentalguy
qw1222... how sure are u of that number? ur telling met hat they send out 100 offers last year... thats kinda hard to believe esp since they said it was a competitive year last year and that they barely went into the waitlist... i hope 100 is a correct number cuz that would mean almost 1/2 get in... but i really find that hard to believe... cheers
Guest qw1222
i am presuming here because u of t sends that many...heh. but i could be wrong. However it certainly more than 54.
Guest crest vs colgate
U of T sent out ~100 offers last year because they make their acceptances early and the deposit is not that much. So people accept the offer, then wait until UWO, Dal (and other schools that offer later) and then drop U of T and accept at those schools. I don't think UWO goes too far down the waitlist (at least not near as far as UBC or UoT).

Guest Aplusdent
If I'll already have a year of physio would I still have to take the physio exam at UWO??
Guest predentalguy
aplusdent... u wont need to take the physio challenge exam if the physio course u took is recognized by the admissions committee to be compatible with there physio requirement... check there website and they have a list... ie for uoft the compatible courses are PSL 201 and PSL 302 i believe... cheers
Guest Gattuso19
I talked to Trish today. She said she will email everyone for the challenge exam confirmation and details this week. It will most likely be the night of the Saturday (22nd). So if you don't live local (ie myself) plan to spend the day there. If you want earlier clarification call the admissions office. Guest BeEasyy
Aplusdent, in regards to UWO vs UT, I'd go with UT for the same reasons of stayin in my hometown toronto. If I were an OOP though, I wouldn't know which one to pick. I frankly have no clue about the quality of education in UWO. Some say UWO is the best school in Canada, others say UT is better than UWO. I dunno the answer to this question...
Guest uoft2005
well,i talked to trish as well.. all she said was taht the wait list is not very long and pray to GOD ur ass will get of the list:rollin seriously, she was very encouraing.. saying i shouldn't give up ALL my hope etc.. Guest sensodyne
ok...so who knows what's the best way to get from pearson airport to London specifically UWO campus? Is there a shuttle running from pearson to london? or do I have to go to the greyhound station from pearson and then bus to london? I'm wondering whether i'm better off taking a connector plane from pearson to london airport.
Guest shesallDAT
Hey, I'm going through Pearson as well...your best bet is to take the shuttle from the airport to London. I believe this will drop you at any address in the city you want (check out the Reservations page). The website is http://www.robertq.com and price is ~$50 one way and ~100 return.... Guest qw1222
This response is regarding..which school you would choose: UofT or Western? UofT and Western, things to consider: I think if you want to specialize, UofT is the best place to go. If people detest specializing then I think Western would be much much better place. I heard that they let students do a wide set of techniques (those used by a general dentists), while at UofT everything is forwarded to a specialist. Since you can get good references and experience with specialized dentists @ Toronto, this will increase your chances of getting accepted in a tough residency eg. oral surgery! Of course there are other things to consider: 1. You want to spend 2 years with med students @ Western? Or do you want your own dental focused lessons delievered by Toronto dental profs? 2. You want to spend time with ultra competitive enviroment at Toronto? Or relaxed friendly atmosphere at Western...
Guest BeEasyy
I wouldn't think Western is any less "ultra competitive" than U of T...
Guest tamkhan1
very true..i think western is as competitive as uoft
