lovemedicinesomuch
I applied to transfer to IM residency in my school, and I was offered a spot. Can one transfer residencies more than once?
Bambi
I don't really know but this seems to be pushing the envelope beyond what appears reasonable.

Your second program that went to bat for you, and then if you try bailing on them... unlikely you will be able to get positive references. shikimate
I know 1 guy who transferred from A to B (same uni), then transferred back to A. Does that count lol? frenchpress
blah1234
I only know of one case. Seems unlikely based on the issues raised above.
rmorelan
highly unlikely - one case of it I saw was someone returning to their old specialty. There is a lot of work involved in moving people around, and you start to reduce you funding amounts.
Edict
I know of someone who transferred three times to four different specialties, and was successful, so it is absolutely possible.
hero147
Yeah I have seen it happen as well over 3 different specialties.
Snowmen
The rules in Quebec are that you can transfer from a specialty to another specialty and can then be granted a second transfer but only to family medicine. Can't transfer to family medicine and then get a second transfer.

I wonder why they moved so much, and what they ended up with.
ChemPetE
I know of an internist that during their residency changed specialties twice in the same institution. I forgot what the second transfer was prior, but neuropath was one of the previous ones if I recall correctly. Both were early on and he enjoyed IM iirc
1D7
I know of people switching and going back, but that's already rare in itself.
