You're not alone ! We're at least 3 on the forum applying for the 7th cycle.

My strategy is to apply everywhere every year as long as it makes sense to me. And it never made this much sense to me. I'll have my very first interview this year after doing almost 2 undergards to get better grades. The road is tough and I gave it my all, but I'm still good to go. Only you know if you still have it in you to keep trying, but you didn't let anyone down. I know this feeling very well, but if you ask these people if they think you let them down, I'm sure they'd tell you that you didn't and that they're very proud of you. No one can be disappointed when someone is trying this hard. I'd say take some rest, clear your mind and then seriously think about your options and your motivation. Maybe try to see the situation like a Casper scenario and think about what you'd suggest to someone else in that situation ? Taking some distance can help to see things with more clarity. You must be good at Casper scenarios by now ;)

Thank you for the kind words and for sharing your experience as well, it’s comforting. That’s exactly what I’m doing this weekend! Hahaha yes I’m very familiar with Casper, MMIs and the McGill Med video they show you before each interview that gets your hopes up

TIME STAMP: 12:00PM

Result: Admitted with condition

Casper Quartile: 4th

GPA: ~3.5 (letter of extc so my gpa most likely was adjusted)

Feeling About MMI (please be mindful of NDA): I prepped a lot so I was confident going in, during and immediately after. However, as each day passed I kept thinking of all the mistakes I made and the things I should've said and done. I know I didn't do well on one station and a few were very meh but I think keeping my cool through it all saved me.

Current year of study: Current Ph.D student

IP/OOP/International: IP

Comments: I've been lurking on this forum since 2014...This is my 6th time applying, first time getting an interview and I am so happy to share this. For everyone reading this that didn't get the news they wanted today (or didn't receive an interview) there is hope. For anyone who has a low GPA and/or is non-trad, you can do it and you are more than capable. It is so hard to deal with rejection, especially if it has been years of them and its so hard to muster up the strength to keep applying but I am living proof that it is possible if you keep at it and move forward. It will happen for you. <3

TIME STAMP: I don't know

Result: Admitted with condition !!!!!:D

Casper Quartile: 2nd

GPA: 4,21

Feeling About MMI (please be mindful of NDA): A very nice experience with warm evaluators and a friendly atmosphere, my bachelor's degree in psychology and my experience in helping relationships helped me a lot.

Current year of study: Psychology

IP/OOP/International: RSPP

Comments: I prepared myself 3 months in advance for Casper with multiple scenarios and also my typing speed which was around 63 words/min. I had difficulty expressing my thoughts with the short time allotted. As my result shows, don't give up if your casper does not represent your efforts and your skills, you will reach your goal if you persevere and believe in yourself. I'm SOOOOO grateful for the offer I received !! :)

TIME STAMP:  No idea

Result: Admitted! Montreal Campus

Casper Quartile: 4Q, French

GPA: 3.73/4.0 McGill ccale (3.85/4.3 UdeM scale)

Feeling About MMI (please be mindful of NDA): I felt somewhat okay right afterwards and I believed I had done my best. However, the last month was filled with overthinking and I started regretting every answer or reaction I had given. In the end, it all worked out !

Current year of study: 3rd UG, last year

IP/OOP/International: IP

Comments: It was my first cycle applying and I got rejected in all Quebec French schools. I do believe the way you present yourself, both in the CV and in the interviews, can play a big part in your admission. Congrats to all newly admitted and for the R and WL, remember that this answer does not define you

TIME STAMP:  9h30

Result: Admitted Montreal Campus

Casper Quartile: 4Q French

GPA: 3.93/4.0 McGill scale (4.09/4.3 UdeM scale)

Feeling About MMI (please be mindful of NDA): Felt like the timer would stop me when I was about to deliver my most important arguments and ideas, but it seems like it's a normal feeling to have overall

Current year of study: 3rd UG neurosciences udem, last year

IP/OOP/International: IP

Comments: I insist on what my fellow classmate illogicalgeek said : "I do believe the way you present yourself, both in the CV and in the interviews, can play a big part in your admission", and I would add in life in general. Be self-confident and show geniune interest in others when you speak to them. Also this forum is an amazing platform, don't hesitate to private message me !

TIME STAMP: 31-03-2023

Result: Admitted

Casper Quartile: 3rd

GPA: 3.87

Feeling About MMI (please be mindful of NDA): had mixed feelings, was my first time doing the MMI so didnt know what to expect ! Did really good in some stations but wasnt always able to give a concrete solution for some

Current year of study: graduated from mcgill dietetics

IP/OOP/International:-

Comments: very very happy. I definitely think that my own experience working as a dietitian helped me to demonstrate empathy and motivational interviewing skills during the MMI. Glad all these years finally paid off :)

PS; I also did not even get a MMI for all 3 franco schools,  got rejected right away. This just shows how mcgill cares about you as a person as a whole ! Dont give up if your GPA or CASPER isn't the highest ! Wishing the best to everyone !

TIME STAMP: 8:44am

Result: Admitted with Condition

Casper Quartile: 4th

GPA: 3.98/4.00

Feeling About MMI (please be mindful of NDA): It was my first time doing the MMIs. I felt okay about it, not amazing, not terrible. I didn't feel like I said anything wrong at any of the stations or that any one station went particularly badly, but did feel like I could have said more (which I take is a common feeling). I immersed myself in each scenario and forgot it was even an interview, so that might be a good way to go about it!

Current year of study: 2nd undergrad, last year of study

IP/OOP/International: IP

Comments: It's my third time applying and I'm over the moon to be accepted into McGill Med. I sobbed when I found out and I'm still in shock over it. Don't give up on your dreams!!

@docsamis it Just me or is the Waitlist not moving at all this year yet? Kind of worrying

I wouldn't worry too much- I think the only schools that have sent out MD acceptances are McGill and the maritime schools. The waitlist will likely move more when other Quebec schools, OMSAS, and the Western Canadian schools start sending acceptances. OMSAS is scheduled for May 9th, and Quebec for May 10th.

Yeah that makes sense thanks for letting me know! I was concerned because in previous years, there was movement in April but nearly none in the past month so I am curious why is different this time around

Feeling About MMI (please be mindful of NDA):  I felt like I did ok, clearly failed one station but the rest was fine.

Hi,

Do you know how mcgill converts gpa from french schools to their gpa scale? Does a 4.3 become a 4, a 4 stays a 4 and so on or is it different?

Thanks

Do you know how udem gpa converts to mcgill gpa? For every class, does a 4.3 become a 4, a 4 stays a 4, a 3.7 stays a 3.7 and so on or is it different?
