I really love my job. I really lucked into this position and my boss takes her role as mentor so seriously. She ensures regularly that I'm included in stuff that contributes to my future.

On top of that, my job has air conditioning. Right now, that matters more than anything. :D

What's your job?

Man, I've been looking for a job for so long now.

I'm volunteering so much this summer and every job I apply to ( Restaurants, costco etc) need me to be available at anytime. So I haven't received any interviews for jobs.

I work for the federal government, in a role having to do with health care service delivery (admin side of things.) I got the job through FSWEP (Google it) but it has become far more than a simple student job. I enjoy it very much.

Anyone else extremely happy they are spending this prime summer weather outside instead of working on their apps?

I'm working WAY too much and have no idea why, I'm working/volunteering 10 days in a row right now. I did get to spend the day outside today- volunteering .Yes, I am still volunteering despite being accepted. :D

I kept up with a good chunk of my volunteering but still took a lot of extra time off this summer for myself. Figured the extra money from keeping a job wasn't worth giving up my last summer and I'll still be $100k+ in debt anyway.

That being said, I've wanted to be a dealer at the CNE casino for a couple years and if I didn't have O-week during 1 of the weeks I might have done that. Numbers/stats have always been really fun to me and being in a fast-paced environment involving numbers would probably have been extremely fun.

I worked late three days last week, but still managed to get to the beach four times. We come home, grab something to eat, then head over to the beach since it is only five minutes away.

My apps will take roughly ten to fifteen hours of my summer. The rest is pure relaxation time. :D

LOL I trained there with the intention of becoming a dealer 2 summers ago. I worked hard to find another job so that I wouldn't have to end up working there. After a while of training I just felt like a robot. You do get a paid half hour break for every hour of work which is pretty sweet.

I have a whole bunch of barely used MCAT books I bought in 2010. Most of these stuff are brand new too. With the 2015 MCAT and all I guess if I'm going to get rid of any of them now is the time. Not quite sure which ones to sell and which ones (if any) will be helpful for my studying next year. I have the TPR hyperlearning books, all the EK 1001 question books, EK mini MCATs, EK study package, and BR physics and chem passages. It's such a waste just sitting there...

I feel like most jobs you end up as a robot anyway. The break time sounds pretty awesome but too late for that now, I'll have to experience it from the other side of the table.

Oh my gosh, I am just now watching the Knowledge Network's show Emergency Room. Amazing. I keep thinking "OMG I want to work there" and then I realize that I just might! This is kind of like a dream or something.

I alsways said that I would work as a barista when I got in. I want to learn how to make fancy coffees. Alas, I am not. I did gove my notice for one of my jobs for July 31, so that's good, but next week is so, so busy for me. I just want it to settle down.

I'm trying to spend a little time each day packing up and organizing stuff for school. So far I am succeeding. I am also working on training my 2 very high-energy young dogs... and am succeeding. :D

Love Emergency Room! Highly recommend it!

I just got my FNH 200 mark back and I got 77%. Now I know a lot of people on this forum wouldn't be happy with that, but considering that I thought I failed the midterm, I am pretty happy. I must've done better on the final than I thought.

Now I have to get two 90's to balance out this B to get a solid 86 percent average! Luckily for me I will be doing that in two courses I love; Anatomy& Physiology I and II :)

I'm designing a t-shirt for charity (ie. proceeds go to charity), does anyone know of any good online apparel production websites?

I have the design I want, just need to find someone for production.

Have you looked into Cafepress.ca or Zazzle.ca? Both places do t-shirt printing (and tons of other personalized items)

Today at volunteering, I spent some time talking to a patient's daughter and she asked about my schooling and I said that I was starting med school in August.

At the end of the day just as I was leaving, she pulled me aside and thanked me for my help and told me I'd be a great doctor. For some reason, it sticks out as the best compliment I've ever received. Friends are always super supportive but to hear it from someone I interacted with for only a few hours was amazing and put a smile on my face for the rest of the day.

^impressed volunteering when you already got accepted into med school. #altruism

It's not so easy to just stop a volunteer activity you've been doing for a long time. I don't want my organization to fail. I'm mentoring others still, and doing the best/most I can.

My doggie has a hurt paw. He is so so cute with it, but it's really sad too. Took him to the vet yesterday and he's on an anti-inflammatory and resting it. It's really tough to keep a highly active 3-yr-old athletic dog from running! He stops himself most of the time as it hurts him to run, but I swear he still thinks he can climb trees to get squirrels.

edit: Sometimes it just hits me that I'm starting med school soon and I can't believe I'm about to do this

went to the gym.....so many ppl do not know how to work out and eat properly. Brb making excuses

I've been here 2.5 years and I'm hoping to be back for a rotation in clerkship so it's in my best interest to keep going for as long as I can. Plus, I really enjoy it and I learn a lot every time I go in.

I am going to keep a jar and put notes of all the positive things that happen. I am trying to focus more on the positive rather than the negative.

You could also keep a journal, it might be easier to review it (and feel more positive, etc.)

I try to see things as happening for a reason (doesn't every premed that doesn't get in first try think that way haha), though I don't really believe in fate (not sure if those two ideas are compatible? :P ). But I think 'glass half full' thinking definitely gets you further in life :)
